Cross-country skiing in Bodenmais in the Bavarian Forest

For all Cross-country skiing enthusiasts The Hotel Bergknappenhof is the ideal starting point for a trip to the cross-country skiing centre Board shafts at the Arber.

The activity center with plenty of parking spaces is just a 10-minute drive away. You can also take the ski bus from the Hotel Bergknappenhof. The stop is just 230 m away, about a three-minute walk. The Bretterschachten cross-country skiing center is one of the most snow-sure cross-country skiing areas in Central Europe and the most snow-sure in Germany.

Every day, the municipalities of Arnbruck and Bodenmais prepare around 114 km of classic trails and 110 km of skating trails. You can choose between a 4 km (easy), 6 km (moderately difficult), 9 km (moderately difficult), 12 km (difficult), 15 km (difficult) and 18 km trail. There is also the Auerhahn Höhenloipe Schareben with 20 km or 40 km (difficult trail), the Auerhahn Höhenloipe Eck with 30 km or 60 km (difficult trail), which you can ski in both directions. If you only want to go in one direction, you can easily take the ski bus, which will take you back to Bodenmais.

Some of these trails lead past the Kleiner Arber refuge and the Chamer Hütte, where you can enjoy a snack. However, if there is really little snow in winter, the alternative trail offers the security of being able to run in any case. The route is chosen according to the snow conditions. Combine your wellness holiday at the Hotel Bergknappenhof with an active holiday at Bretterschachten. Whether you are a classic cross-country skier or a skater, a beginner or an advanced skier, there is something for everyone at the activity center. The team at the Hotel Bergknappenhof will be happy to give you information about the ski bus and trails. You can also go on guided snowshoe hikes, and winter hikes are very popular. You can choose from short, easy trails to steep, difficult routes.
